Picton

Picton, on the northeast corner of New Zealand's South Island, provides access to the beautiful Marlborough Sounds and to New Zealand's most famous wine region, Marlborough, home to the world's best Sauvignon Blanc. Known as the sunniest place in the country, this small town of about 3,000 is named for Sir Thomas Picton, who fought at the Battle of Waterloo. The pretty harbour town has several cafes and shops, plus a market when cruise ships are in port. The area is home to five different types of dolphins, orca and rare birds.

Lyttelton (Christchurch), New Zealand

Begin your adventure in the charming port town of Lyttelton. Savor a local pastry or coffee in a 1920s heritage café before exploring the scenic hills of Urumau Reserve or Bridle Path. For sweeping vistas, ride the Christchurch Gondola and take in the panoramic beauty of the region.

Dunedin, New Zealand

Embrace the Scottish charm and natural beauty of Dunedin. Discover Gothic elegance and lush gardens at Larnach Castle, or wander the colorful Dunedin Street Art Trail. Venture to the Otago Peninsula to spot rare yellow-eyed penguins at Penguin Place, or unwind among the caves and cliffs of serene Long Beach.

Cruising Dusky Sound

Also known as Tamatea, the largest of New Zealand's fjords is inundated with sparkling waters, verdant landscapes and tumbling waterfalls. Seals, bottlenose dolphins, wood pigeons and penguins make this remote southern area of New Zealand a slideshow of captivating wildlife.

Doubtful Sound (Cruising), New Zealand

Sail through the serene “Sound of Silence.” Carved by glaciers over 100,000 years ago, this vast fjord is surrounded by lush rainforest and dramatic inlets that capture the untouched majesty of Fiordland National Park.

Milford Sound

New Zealand's Milford Sound is one of the world's most beautiful fjords, and popular because of the towering Mitre Peak, surrounded by waterfalls and rainforests. Here, you'll find a unique flora and fauna, with fur seal colonies, penguins, and dolphins just around each corner. Visit the Milford Discovery Centre and Underwater Observatory to discover rare black corals and even more aquatic life.
